California Country/Folk/Americana/Bluegrass Music Venues
To quote Steve Earle, “Support your local cocktail
waitress, she’s probably supporting your local musician!” Some of
these venues only feature roots music on select nights. You may want to call
and confirm the type of music prior to making the drive, but please help support
live music at your neighborhood bar, night club, restaurant, festival, or concert
hall.

are some links to Hooverville Rounders-related sites. Some are related to Bluegrass,
Americana, Folk, and American Roots music and/or lifestyle. Some aren't.
Boot
Liquor Radio- Radio for Cowhands, Cowpokes, and Cow Tippers.
Our buddy Roy Batchelor describes the format as "dysfunctional
country-rock-folk", with an emphasis on simple arrangements and interesting
subject matter. Stick around long enough, you might even hear the Hooverville
Rounders!
Southwest
Bluegrass Association- Official Web site of the Southwest Bluegrass Association.
In addition to letting us play at their functions, they featured the Hooverville
Rounders on the cover of their October-November 2007 Newsletter, the "Bluegrass
Soundboard". What's not to love about this fine association?
Turbula.net-Publisher/Editor
Jim Trageser describes it best: "An odd little online publication to which
truly talented people seem strangely compelled to send interesting works for
others to enjoy".
The Bakersfield Sound- Robert Price of the
Bakersfield Californian wrote this excellent, comprehensive overview of Bakersfield's
rich musical heritage.

Steve
Austin Real Estate Appraisal Services-
He's Southern California's favorite guitar-playin', banjo-pickin' real estate
appraiser and consultant (you didn't think he actually made a living playing
bluegrass, did you?) By day, Steve provides real estate appraisal services for
Kern County, Ventura County, and northern Los Angeles County. Hey- one of the
benefits of having a band Web site is being able to plug your other businesses
(note to other businesses- this only works if you're in the band).
It's
a Wonder-Faux Life- Before
nagging back problems associated with climbing ladders and slinging a 500-pound
Gibson banjo forced him into a more sedentary occupation, The Rounders' own
Steve Austin was a successful painting contractor, specializing in faux finishing,
wall graphics, and set painting for TV and movies. He still provides consulting
and instruction in the painting field. This site offers Steve's faux finishing
instructional video, "It's A Wonder-Faux Life", along with an online
portfolio of his painting work and a schedule of upcoming faux finish seminars
and classes. (You got it- another shameless plug!)
If you have a site you'd like linked to us (and aren't afraid of guilt by association!), send the information to links(at)hoovervillerounders.com (substitute (at) with the @ sign,we're trying to slow down spammers by limiting e-mail links on the site). If appropriate, we'll add it to the site. If not, we'll ignore the request!
We won't add sites for the following categories, so don't ask!: online pornography, pharmacies or casinos; home business opportunities; hard-luck refinancing and mortgage companies; formulas for weight loss, sexual enhancement, or genital enlargement; mail-order spouses in third-world countries; exiled aristocrats seeking help in recovering stolen funds; political organizations or causes we don't agree with; or anything else that arbitrarily rubs us the wrong way.
